Dr. Finger has designed specially shaped radiation devices for treatment of intraocular melanoma. These devices work to limit the radiation to the normal parts of the eye, save vision and destroy the cancer in almost all cases. Finger’s Slotted Plaques were designed to reach around the optic nerve sheath as it exits the back of the eye which ensures the entire intraocular tumor is in the radiation zone. Last reported to be associated with a 98.2% local control rate, even for tumors that over the intraocular optic disc. This saves eyes from removal and spares at least some vision.
